A little bit about me..

Hi, my name's Vinita Chandra and I'm the artist behind “Waterflower Gallery” ~ my passion for art started early, at the age of 14 years old, I remember discovering artists Georgia O'Keeffe and Frida Khalo’s work in an antique library in Stockholm, Sweden ~ where I grew up. It took my breath away, their stories and their lives. It was so inspiring and knew then that this was something I had to pursue, that it was my future path.

At 24 years of age I decided to pack my bags and move to England, to study art. After several applications to different art schools, my final application was accepted to do a one year National Diploma in Art & Design at Plymouth College of Art, in 1997.

Motherhood took over as an interception ~ when my daughter was born in 1999, I never stopped creating and painting whilst bringing her up during her whole childhood ~ where we also spent almost 10 years living in many beautiful and interesting places in Buddhist spiritual communities across England. It added much fuel to my art, being surrounded by Tibetan enlightened art and iconography.

I later returned to art school and completed my BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art, Fashion design & Illustration in 2010.

Since then I have set myself up as a freelance artist with love of using traditional media such as watercolours, inks and acrylics in the painting process. Most of my illustrations and watercolours are typically inspired by flowers, fashion, beauty, food and travel. Which are some of the things I love to have around me in the studio.

With my illustrations published in British Vogue, Conde Nast, UK Yoga Magazine and other editorials, exhibitions & private commissions. I hope to reach more people with my art and inspire you to live with beauty, love, light, to your highest dreams and potential.
